What can I do to keep my child safe?

• Never leave your child alone in a car. Don't risk it even for a few minutes.

• Put your baby to sleep on his or her back back, not on the stomach. Do not put pillows in your baby's crib. Never put your baby to sleep on a waterbed.

• Babies and young children like to grab things. Keep baby's crib away from things your baby can pull into the crib. These include blinds, drapes, and hanging cords.

• Keep all cords out of reach of children. A child can tie a cord around his or her neck and die. A child can pull something down by the cord onto his or her head.

• Cover all electric outlets with plastic safety covers.

• Teach children never to touch light switches or electric things while touching water.

• Store sharp things away from children. These include hnives, needles, pins, and nails.

• keep plastic bags away from children.
